Stand Up Paddle Surfing - Lessons

Stand up paddle boarding lessons are a great way to get in to the sport, learn all the basics and get ripping in the waves in half the time. We usually find that after one lesson that most people are able to learn the rest by themselves and they don't need the biggest board any more they can progress down a size pretty much after the lesson.

If you buy a board though Roar Industries you will get a free lesson or get your lesson money refunded.

We also hire SUPS for the traveller who wants to sup on there holiday but does not want to travel with such a large board or for those that have completed a lesson and would like to continue with the fun afterwards.

Why choose us?

We teach the most effective and practical way to kite board we do not teach you how to fly kites we teach you how to KITESURF. We teach in safe locations with the latest gear with fully operational safety systems. All lessons are one on one for optimal learning. We use methods that are proven to work as well as sculpt the lessons to individual needs. Lessons are kept to 2 hours for maximum learning.
We have a very high rate of people going on to be kite boarders after their lessons and a progression rate that is second to none.
We will teach you at the rate that you can learn and not hold you back if you are ready to progress.

We also recommend that if you can fly a trainer kite before the lesson it will cut down on the basic stuff that you have to learn and you progress twice as fast (you can see us for trainer kites to buy or hire)

The difference between us and other schools is that we only have professional kite surfers as instructors. We won't teach people that want a kite experience, we will only teach clients that want to learn to kite surf. We don't teach in groups!

All lessons have been designed by Paul Jackson (Australian Champion) and Angela Van Hoof (State Champion 2 years running).

Thursday nights are set aside for theory lessons which take place in the shop, this allows you more practical flying time on the beach, instead of listening to the theory with wind blowing in your ear. Theory lessons in the shop are FREE and part of the Roar Industries customer service and great support. By doing the theory in the shop you get a full 2 hours of flying the kite on the lesson day.

Below is a run down on what you might learn in your first lesson.

• We give a full run down on weather conditions.
• You will learn about wind windows, wind directions etc.
• Full safety run down and practice.
• Full run down on gear boards & kites.
• Conditions awareness.

Below is what is mostly taught at the shop's theory night, which takes approx 30 minutes.

• Rigging and inflation of kites.
• Launching and landing of kites.
• Self rescues and winding up lines in water.
• Flying of small trainer kites improving your skills.
• Fly techniques how to use the wind window.
• Body dragging up wind.
• Relaunch kite from water.
• Board techniques if time permits.
• Packing up gear.

We will teach at the pace you learn at so the more you know and study before the lesson the more we should get done in the lesson.

Please check with any school that you do lessons with ask for what qualifications they have make sure they have like insurance for teaching lessons and that they can show you all aspects of all types of kites and not just the ones they sell, as you my end up with another type of kite and not no how to use it properley. Try to avoid doing lessons in large groups we recommend no more than 2 students per instructor.

All our lessons come with full back up and support from the Roar Team and we will be there for any questions you might have after your lesson, you will never be left in the dark. Roar Industries will be able to you help you with any difficulty you might be having.

If you have brought a New Kite from Roar Industries we will make sure you have a total understanding of how that particular kite works, safety, rigging, launching etc.

Then you will become a Kite Boarder.
